- Eat a light & healthy breakfast.
- Avoid caffeine and sugar for 24-48 hours before the exam.
- Cut back on salt and sodium 5 to 7 days before the exam.
- Bring a complete health history with you (including medications).
- Bring glasses, contacts, or hearing aids.
- Get a good night’s rest before your exam.
- Relax, if you are nervous tell the examiner so that can be taken into consideration.
What Is the Urine Sample Tested For?
The DOT sample is tested only for the presence of sugars, protein, or blood – all of which can be indicative of health conditions. It’s important to note that your employer may require a pre-employment drug test at the same time as your DOT physical, consult your employer’s drug testing program for details.
