Scoliosis

Scoliosis is an abnormal sideways curvature of the spine. About 3% of the U.S. population has some form of scoliosis – some are born with it, while others develop scoliosis with age. Most scoliosis patients have a spinal curvature that does not require surgery, but these individuals endure severe pain because the condition affects their body’s anatomy.

What Should I Expect During My Scoliosis Assessment?

Dr. Rob will carefully listen to your concerns and review your full medical history with you.

This will be followed by observation of your posture and range of motion.

Then, our Lehi chiropractor will palpate (feel) your full spine to determine if there is any muscle-tendon injury or vertebral displacement.

If warranted, digital imaging (X-ray, MRI, or CAT scan) may be ordered to ensure any undetected spine, shoulder, or neck injury is identified and documented.

Finally, using the findings gathered from the steps above, the doctor will determine a comprehensive, scientifically based, effective, and efficient treatment plan tailored to achieve your health and recovery goals.

If I Have No Symptoms, Does This Mean I Don't Have Scoliosis?

Research has shown that scoliosis is primarily a genetic malady, and there are no preventative measures that can be taken to prevent the condition.
